Unter der Matrikel - Nr. 248 wurde die erste außereuropäische, deutschsprachige Johannisloge in Lomé / Togo gegründet. Sie steht unter der Jurisdiktion der Großen Landesloge der Freimaurer von Deutschland (GLL FvD) - Freimaurerorden-. Der Logenname nimmt Bezug auf den deutschen Afrikaforscher Dr. Gustav Nachtigal (1834 - 1885). Togo ist mit seinen 56.000 km² und seinen 3,5 Millionen Einwohnern eines der kleinsten Länder in Westafrika. Dieses Land ist lebendig, farbenfroh und zeigt in der Mannigfaltigkeit der Motive das unverfälschte, ursprüngliche Afrika. Besucher sind begeistert von der Gastfreundschaft und Fröhlichkeit, von der Aufgeschlossenheit und Hilfsbereitschaft der Einwohner. Togo ist 600 km lang und mißt an seiner breitesten Stelle 100 km.
